Awaken Your Untapped Mind with Energy Awareness!

Energy Awarenesss

by Glenn Hartelius

Thoughts and feelings are as invisible as air. Yet when the wind blows, or an airplane lifts off from the ground, it is pretty clear that air is something real and substantial. Emotions and belief systems, although you cannot see them, are made of a subtle substance that you can feel. When you learn to feel your mind, you will discover that it has as much detailed anatomy as your physical body. Healers often refer to these as “energy structures.” When you discover how to engage with your mind in this way, it opens the way for direct, powerful strategies that you can use to heal and transform your mind in deep and lasting ways.

The first part of your mind that you will learn about is your attention. If someone asks you, “Where is your attention,” you are likely to answer in terms of what your attention is pointed at: “My attention is on what those people are doing across the street.” But your attention is much more than something you use to notice what is going on around you. Your attention is the part of you that is really you, behind all of your thoughts and feelings. Once you learn to notice who you are, once you are able to be this deeper part of yourself, it opens the door to a very different way of being you.

The first thing that happens when you learn to be your attention is that your mind gets quiet. Instead of a constant conversation going on inside your head, you feel yourself as a clear, quiet presence. This makes it easier to notice what is actually going on in your life. Imagine you are trying to have a conversation with a friend over lunch, while also listening to a talk show through an earphone. How much of a conversation would it be? That little voice inside the head is like a talk show host, distracting you from what is really happening in your everyday life. But when you learn to be your attention, the internal chatter stops and you can “pay attention” in a clear and quiet way.

This is just the beginning, for once you learn how to be your attention, you can learn how to move your attention from your head down into the rest of your body. This is important because your mind is in your whole body, not just in your head. When you live in your head, you are living in the part of your mind that responds to life by getting on a hamster-wheel of thoughts and worries, and draining away your energy.

When you learn to move your attention down into your body, you learn how to live in the part of your mind that is creative and alive, that knows how to bounce back from stress, how to connect deeply with others, and how to apply your inner wisdom to the challenges of living.

The other thing that happens when you move your attention into your body is that you gain a clear, direct experience of your mind. Many people understand the mind to be their thinking processes that are somehow connected with chemicals and electrical signals in their brains. Yet the mind is the living intelligence of your whole being, an elegant system of information and perception that you can feel as simple sensations in and around your body.

If learning these skills appeals to you,
you might want to take one of the following courses in Attention Dynamics:

Energy Awareness: Awaken Your Untapped Mind

This class teaches you how to manage your own mind in new and powerful ways. If other approaches to quieting your mind have failed, this workshop is for you.

This work teaches you how to master your mind by managing your attention: the essence of your consciousness. You can work, relax, and connect with yourself and others more deeply by understanding the anatomy and dynamics of the body and mind, just as athletes learn to excel through an understanding of the structure of the physical body. During the workshop, you will participate in group and partner exercises designed to lead you to direct, tangible experiences of the skills that are presented. This is the first workshop in a series of self-development courses that also leads to professional certification in energy healing techniques.

The seven chakras of the body, and their internal anatomy
Six off-the-body chakras, what they mean, and how they connect to the physical body
The hidden chakras: Three major chakras that regulate body, mind, and soul
How to distinguish the "aura" from the deep energy field
The nine layers of the deep energy field
The subtle anatomy of the greater mind

Bankrupting the Idiocracy

Bankrupting the Idiocracy
by Anodea Judith

I hate to write about money. It’s not my thing. And I’m tired of reading about it, hearing about it, and having it be the center of every newscast. It’s given far too much importance on every issue, and it overshadows anything resembling real value. But there’s some things that must be said.

Now real value is something I do like to hear about. The real value of an education, (instead of robbing school budgets) the real value of caring for your health (as opposed to arguing about how to pay for over-priced, ineffective health care), the real value of a robust environment (instead of a robust economy that depletes the environment).
But this isn’t the topic of conversation these days. It’s how to pay for things we don’t want, like wars and bailouts, and how to not to pay for things we do want, like public services, social security, the EPA, and programs that serve the common good.

I’m tired of hearing how we have to boost the economy by getting more jobs doing what we’ve always done: raped the environment to make and sell useless products no one needs; manufacture weapons to be sold to other countries so we can “protect national security” from their violence; (80,000 of the weapons confiscated in the Mexico drug wars were made in the U.S. of A, a figure heard on NPR, with the cost of the border fence $6.5 billion over 20 years; or spending trillions on pointless and immoral wars (watch the numbers move here) while letting our bridges, highways, and national morale rot here at home.

I’m sad to see looting in the streets of London, but let’s get real. That’s not where the real looting is happening. It’s in the banking and mortgage industry, and they’ve looted the foreclosure of more than 3 million homes in 2010 and nearly a million in the last quarter here in the U.S.

I’m tired of people saying they didn’t see the recession coming, when we have another bigger recession looming on the horizon that we’re too scared to face: the impending bankruptcy of water, oil, trees, topsoil, fish, clean air, and truth. These are not things you can save with a bailout. They are not so easily replaced. They’re not even computed on the balance sheet.

We’re not in a recession. There’s plenty of money in Iraq and Afghanistan where it costs a million dollars a year per soldierto say nothing of the government contracts to rebuild what we destroy. There’s plenty of money to keep people in prison, where serving five years for a $300 theft costs the public more than $100,000 and the cost of a life sentence averages $1.5 million.

money sign

There’s plenty of money spent on political campaigns, ($5.3 billion in 2008) paid for by lobbyists to keep even more money running through their special interests. When you add that $5.3 billion to the $8 billionbudget of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA, there to make sure you don’t blow up a plane with your toothpaste, and you’ve got more than enough money to satisfy the entire world’s sanitation and hunger requirements (estimated at $13 billion).

We’re not broke, we’re developing a blood clot. Money is currency and should describe a circulation system whereby goods get to wherever they’re needed. In the body, our blood circulates to bring oxygen and nutrients to each and every cell. If we were to keep all the blood in one place, we’d call it an aneurysm and would soon be dead.

The good news is that we can’t afford this Idiocracy any more. The monetary system we know and don’t love is collapsing and proving itself to be a false representative of real value.  It’s not going to work when we reach a critical mass of people out of work, out of their homes, unable to buy goods or pay taxes, and 45,000 people each year dying for lack of health insurance (compare that to 3,000 who died on 9/11 and $8 billion spent in response by TSA).

The good news is this kind of money will bankrupt itself. The bad news is how many innocent people will suffer in the process. However, life will go on without it, just as it always has, after we wake up and end the nightmare. And then maybe we’ll start talking about real things again.

We could start with integrity.

"Things fall apart," wrote William Butler Yeats"The centre cannot hold; mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, the blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere the ceremony of innocence is drowned; the best lack all conviction, while the worst are filled with passionate intensity."

Are You Wondering How to Lead in this Time of Uncertainty?

Sacred Leadership
with Lynne Michelson

* Are you wondering how to lead in this time of uncertainty?

* Are you feeling called to inspire others and bring your vision of care to fruition?

* Are you in touch with your purpose and how to share that with clarity, confidence and passion?

Leadership derives from the Old English Lethin, which means “to make happen, to make go.” Leaders know how to take effective action wherever they are. They discover how to be useful even when the outer world feels difficult or confusing. Leaders know their purpose and create a vision, then mobilize others (or themselves) towards their goal.

Action is an embodied expression of our life force, based in our muscular system and aligned with our core. In action, we can be relaxed, even in the midst of stress. Action needs to be connected with a powerful story of caring or higher purpose. In other words – for the sake of what higher purpose is this being done? If we are not connected to a narrative of what matters to us and why it matters, we are simply performing tasks, going about our days tediously completing a checklist.

So first of all, it is crucial to know what you truly care about – whether it is teaching a yoga class, raising children, defending the planet, or being present for a friend. You can discover this by looking for moments when you are most alive and energized. Martin Seligman, author of Authentic Happiness, suggests that true happiness is to come from a place of meaning – giving your gifts where they are most needed. This brings self-worth and being at home in your own skin. It involves staying true to yourself, even while serving others.

At the Sacred Leadership Program, October 1st-2nd you will be invited to discover your vision, bolster your aliveness, and ground these in your body, your voice, and your presence. You will be amongst others who will reflect your impact and how much they would follow you. We will use the structure of the chakras as a skeleton to work with each of the core attributes of a Sacred Leader.

To learn more and experience these potent skills and your own strengths, join us at the Becoming a Sacred Leader Teleconference September 14th and 21st. We will explore the tool-set of a Sacred Leader. These two experiential calls will help you identify a meaningful value you can align with and how to embody it with authenticity, voice, vitality and passion. Whether you identify yourself as a leader or not, you are a powerful force of change in the world around you.

Come join us at Gabriola Island for 5 days of learning to guide the journey to wholeness and gain new tools to help your students and clients.

How to Perceive and Work with the Human Energy Body
Wednesday, Sept 28, at 7:30 pm through Friday Sept 30 at 12:30 pm

This workshop teaches you a simple way to access the parts of your mind that sense subtle energies, both within yourself and in others. This original method, called Attention Dynamics®, gets you out of the part of your mind that holds your story, and into the part that creates transformation. With well-illustrated instructions and easy exercises, you will learn how to master your inner resources more easily and powerfully. Discover the anatomy of your mind, and how to gain direct access to your creativity, intuition, feelings and personal motivation.

You will learn how to:
Gain access to direct, sensate awareness of your own embodied presence
Shift your state of consciousness by learning to control your embodied presence, using specific body sensations as cues. Become more aware of energy, boundaries, and dynamics within yourself and with others

14 CEU’s possible for therapists, social workers, and yoga teachers.

_____________________________________________

Friday, Sept 30, at 3:00 pm to Sunday, Oct 2, at 6:00 pm

This workshop offers concepts, skills, and practices that support you in making energy awareness part of your everyday life. It includes a comprehensive presentation of basic energy anatomy, practice deepening into mindfulness, and the skills needed to teach the basic Attention Dynamics embodiment exercise. Together, these practices show you how to work with energy at three different levels of the human system.

In addition to the seven chakras of the body, you’ll explore six more chakras that sit in the energy field, discover that the “aura” is one of two different types of energy fields that surround you, learn how to do energy work with this simpler auric field, and how to perceive and cultivate healing in the deeper, layered structure of the soul’s body. More importantly, you will learn to distinguish between these two very different levels of energy structure and energy work.

The workshop will show you how to read attention in someone else’s body as a way of sharpening your awareness of how attention sits in your own body and explain the energy and verbal dynamics of cultivating strong rapport with healthy boundaries.

18 CEU’s possible for therapists, social workers, and yoga teachers.

Facilitating Transformative Experiences in Self-Discovery
Taught by Selene Vega, Ph.D.

Sept 24 - Sept 28, 2011
Gabriola Island, Canada
Part of Sacred Center’s Annual Immersion

Awakening self-awareness and opening to new perspectives creates profound potential for transformation. Unblocking the unconscious conditioning that has limited us, we can move creatively into our full potential. For therapists and teachers, the art of creating a context in which this can occur is essential. Using the tools of trance, movement, and ritual, and a structured framework for creating sacred space, you will learn to work deeply with students and clients in a contained and safe way. A balance between inner work and interactive experience provide opportunities to deepen your own process while you practice using these tools for yourself and others. Explore your inner terrain, touching neglected parts of yourself, as you deepen your understanding and ability to guide others into their inner experience.

  • Learn to work with group energy, balancing attention to individuals and to the group experience
  • Develop your ability to guide group and individual movement journeys and rituals for healing, growth, and celebration
  • Gain understanding of the ethical considerations involved in teaching and leading workshops, and in working with non-ordinary states of consciousness
  • Learn to assist students and clients in creating a bridge between their experiences in a workshop or therapeutic setting and everyday life

30 CEU’s possible for therapists, social workers, and yoga teachers.
